Glasthule

Existing ad hoc extensions which encroached into the gardel leaving a poor residual space with the boundary were demolished and replaced with a single structure with a curved roof. The form of the roof arose out of a wish to keep the height of the extension low at the boundary with the neighbouring property.

A courtyard was retained between the extension and the existing house to preserve light and ventilation to the existing reception room. Despite the northerly orientation, sunlight is brought into the heart of the kitchen via a quirky circular roof window.

Kitchen and other bespoke joinery, including a panelled wall concealing a pantry and utility room were designed and fabricated to suit the client’s needs.
